Round 1 – 8th April
What a beautiful day it was today for our footy season to kick off. 1st our babies U5s for their first game ever.
La Pa U5s had a fantastic first game of footy, lead by coach Brendan Williams. There were some very excited kids and others not so willing, but once time was on they all did their best! There were lots of tries and tackles and only a couple of tears… Everyone can’t wait for the game next week.

Our U6s had a great start to the season. laying with a referee for the first time was a new challenge but all the players listened well and stayed in line with the ref. With 12 players, the children shared playing time equally and enjoyed cheering from the bench.
There were plenty of try-scorer’s on the day with Roman, Taj and Leeton crossing over more than once. Caleb, Braxton and Samarah defended will and our new players Manaia, Cuba and Taylen had a great first game with La Pa.
La Pa defeated Moore Park 40-36.

The U7s had a great 1st game today against Wombats, a semi Final rematch. All the kids played very well. A big welcome to all the new players that have joined us for this season. All the players had a great time playing together as a team. Final score 40-40..

La Perouse U8s had a good start to the season with a win against Mascot 36-24. The side came home strongly in the 4th quarter to secure the victory, after remaining even with Mascot for the first 3 quarters. The last quarter saw some tactical prowess from the coach similar to Craig Bellamy which produced stunning defence and great attacking play. They had to stop the biggest player they call Junior which resulted in La Pa running away with to victory lane. Great effort by all the kids in the first game of the season but the Channel 9 Nutri Grain Man (Woman) of the Match went to Cobi Ryan-Last. Great attach and defence. Well done to all.

It was a great start to the 2018 competition for our U9s, we played Moore Park at Mascot Oval and was lucky enough to get away with the win 16-12…
It was a hard tough game for the boys especially in the heat, but they all played well.

La Pa U10s started round 1 with a great win to start the season. All the boys put in and played really well as a team. The boys are starting to use the width of the field and back each other up on the field. With a full team of 18 players the boys get along well and are all enjoying their footy! Looking forward to a great season for the boys. Congratulations to Man of the Match, Will Ryan.
La Pa 54 – Coogee Dolphins 6

Came up against last years premiers, Alex Rovers. Got beat 42-0 by a very well drilled side. We had 30f our U11s back up for us who played great. Can only get better from here. Well done boys and girls.

Good win for the La Pa U15s today in their 1st round (and in
Div 1) A bit rusty to start with having had no trial. But the boys put it together to have it as a draw in the last few minutes of the game. Luckily on the last play after the bell had rung, Tahi made a break and the boys kept it alive and Kayde made an awesome run with all the supporters up on their feet. He crossed the line for us to come away with a 24-20 win.

A Res play Marrickville today with the game being moved from their home ground Yarra Oval to Coogee Oval and at an earlier time.
They were a bit rusty on their first hit out for the season, missing 7 of their start players. Ball control was their problem today and they will work on this at training. The effort is there and definitely the heart is there.
